Introduction to Watercolour Techniques Workshop with Kathy Baker
December 07, 2019
Saturday, December 7 11:30AM – 1:00PM
Saturday, December 7 2:00 – 3:30PM
Workshop fee: $15.00
Join watercolour artist Kathy Baker for a fun and incredibly informative workshop about basic watercolour techniques. Learn by doing a series of “mini paintings”, as you explore: wash techniques, colour mixing, preserving luminosity, lifting paint, masking, controlling edges, controlling values, blending, and creating textures. Kathy will also teach about the properties of watercolour paints that you may not have ever learned (that will help you avoid the dreaded “muddy” painting!) She will keep it fun and informative, as she has a wealth of experience doing just that, from her 32-year career teaching art to all levels of students, from complete “newbies”, to Advanced Placement artists.
Kathy Baker is a newly retired art teacher, with 32 years’ experience; she is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and has shown in numerous juried exhibits both through the Federation, and with the International Watercolor Society. She was selected to show in the IWS First Canadian Biennale, the Canada 150 Exhibit, as well as “ NWWS Waterworks: Amplified 2019”. She was awarded an Artist Appreciation Award from the 3rd International Abu Rawash Prize Exhibit, as well. She has had two group shows and a solo exhibit in her hometown of Mission, BC. She teaches workshops and does frequent artist’s demonstrations, and currently has a line of clothing featuring her artwork on sale throughout North America. Her work can be found at her website, kathybakerartist.com, or on her social media sites on Facebook, or Instagram (Kathy.baker1650)
