Are you ready to loosen up, expand your imagination, and get more creative with your Figurative artwork? This exciting demonstration integrates realism & abstraction in unexpected and magical ways by experimenting with the material possibilities of ink, gouache, and water soluble marker on paper. In working from his imagination, Ogilvie begins by spilling paint, then responds to suggested figures, and proceeds to articulate form and space with various mark-making approaches. Emphasis is placed upon playing with the juxtaposition of colour, calligraphic lines, and washes of paint. Attendees of this demonstration will experience a sense of play, discovery, and creative flow!
Justin Ogilvie lives and works in Vancouver, BC, Canada. He received a MFA from the University of Alberta in 2013, and a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2000. Ogilvie’s career consists of both exhibiting and teaching. He has had numerous solo exhibitions within commercial galleries, as well as group shows in municipal and artist-run-centre shows both nationally and internationally. www.justinogilvie.com
