Happy Accidents – Stairway and Light with Sonia Mocnik

January 18, 2020

Saturday, January 18 11:00AM – 12:30PM
Saturday, January 18 2:00 – 3:30PM

“Happy Accidents – Stairway and Light” is all about watercolour techniques than can help the water colourist deal with all those intuitive and spontaneous aspects of watercolour. Whether it is a water line, a bloom, mixing colours, applying a brush stroke, washes, working out lights and darks, transparent versus opaque colours, or getting your whites back, this demo will remove the fear that so often accompanies use of watercolour as a medium. The demo will cover studio equipment, Sonia’s favourite items to work with and why, and answer as many of your watercolour questions as she can during the demonstration.

Sonia Mocnik is inspired by her surroundings; from cityscapes to the great outdoors. Vancouver born, she paints with the colours that move her from an urban scene to nature’s blooms. Sonia is self-taught and has furthered her skills through art instruction with the Federation of Canadian Artists Foundations Program, as well as other art workshops in Canada and in Mexico. She is an Active member of the Federation and instructs watercolour classes with the West Vancouver Community Centre. Plein Air is one of her favourite activities for which she has won several awards. Find out more about her on her web site and blog http://www.soniamocnik.com/artist3.php?xyz=1965 as well as on Instagram a@soniamocnik
