Flower Painting in Oils with SP Williams

In this demo, Vancouver artist and teacher, SP Williams, demonstrates how to paint flowers in oil paint. He will start out with a brown underpainting (aka ‘imprimatura’) and then paint the flowers in an impressionist manner, focusing on clean, bright colours and interesting brushwork bravura. SP will discuss the important of the colour temperature of light and shadow, combined with the local colours of the flowers. SP will paint the entire flower in 1.5 hours in a direct method (aka ‘alla prima’). Join SP and explore the diverse and beautiful world of floral painting! Suitable for all skill levels.
Steve Williams is a Vancouver based artist and co-founder of Canvas Method. For the past fifteen years, Steve has taught painting and drawing, maintained a studio practice, and has exhibited his work internationally. Spending several years studying at renowned ateliers in France, USA and Taiwan, he has also studied with artists such as Daniel Keys, Henry Yan, Kim English, Michelle Tully and Sean Cheetham.
