Description

Saturday, February 29 11:00AM – 12:30PM
Saturday, February 29 2:00 – 3:30PM

In this intermediate to advanced level demo, Kerry will demonstrate just how versatile this relatively new medium can be, with a secondary focus on studio safety. He will be working both abstractly and representationally, demonstrating a variety of paint application techniques using brushes, palette knives, and other tools. Come and learn all about materials too, including: Holbein Duo water mixable oils, water mixable fast dry medium, drawing media, and various Gamblin products.

Kerry Vaughn Erickson is artist and art educator who teaches Painting, drawing and Mixed Media at the Academy of Modern Art in Kerrisdale, Vancouver. Kerry describes his paintings as “amalgams” – a synthesis of representation and abstraction, pop culture references, classical art motifs, and commercial design imagery. Before becoming a full time artist, Kerry worked as an illustrator and graphic designer – these experiences, in conjunction with memory and ongoing personal introspection inform his most recent work.
