Join Marney-Rose Edge and learn to capture colours in the shadows with watercolour! The primary focus is to demonstrate “seeing” and exaggerating the colours found in shadows. Marney-Rose will be using white flowers for this demonstration and include techniques in layering with transparent watercolours, working wet on dry paper plus integrating a discussion on the key components needed for painting light. Marney-Rose will also demonstrate glazing, wet on wet techniques, using the properties of the paint to your advantage plus lifting and scrubbing. Colour, values and the importance of connecting shapes will be included in the discussion and demonstration.
Marney-Rose Edge is a Vancouver based artist who paints beauty with an air of romance. It is her true mastery that make her paintings come alive. Although Edge is well known for her watercolours, oils and acrylics have become an important part of her creative process. Her subject matter over time has included florals, nests, seascapes, animals, and landscapes. The subject suggests the choice of medium. Edge is a natural teacher, sharing her extensive knowledge with students across the country. She was chosen as one of the elite instructors for the recent symposium with the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour. Marney-Rose has appeared on the cover of the International Artist Magazine, with a 10 page feature article.
