Block printing is an old and fairly simple technique that can be used in an astonishing variety of ways. This demonstration will explore using block prints as a creative tool to use on their own or in conjunction with other techniques. For the mixed media artist it can become a valuable tool to add to your repertoire, whether your interest is creating a print on paper or fabric, or using a block print to enliven a piece with depth and layered meaning. In this demo I will cover: block materials; carving tools; inks; and methods of hand printing. We will conclude with a discussion of repeat patterns, and registration of blocks for multi-coloured prints.
