Saturday, November 16 2:30 – 4:00PM (CANCELLED)
Join Brian for a demonstration of the different paints and colours used in acrylic pouring, the mediums, and the different implements and tools used to apply and manipulate the poured acrylic. The main focus of this demonstration is that this is not a complicated artistic expression, but a fun way to introduce people to art, and acrylics; all that is needed is some acrylic paint, the medium, and a paint-able surface. Brian will show how enjoyable it is to watch paint do it’s thing, and how to manipulate the poured acrylic. The demonstration will start with a basic dirty pour, moving on to different ways of dragging the paint, then pushing the acrylics with wind, or a hairdryer. He will discuss the proportions of acrylic colours to the amount of medium, colour mixing, and colour proportions and their relation to each other. Brian will also discuss the different surfaces on which to pour, such as stretched canvas, board, leather, etc., and the different uses of an acrylic pours, such as place mats, hand bags, wall hangings, and many more.
Brian studied and worked as an interior designer in Ontario before moving to BC in the 1980s. Self-taught in watercolour, he has exhibited in galleries in Vancouver, Calgary, Chemainus, and Victoria. Brian owned his own picture framing business, and performs as a musician, singing and playing guitar. studiobc.ca
