Description

Dorland's Wax Medium is a compound of waxes, pure fossil earth, resins and oil. It appears milky in the container, but provides a clear, non-yellowing finish on a myriad of surfaces, and is an excellent vehicle for paints and pigments. Artists have found it useful for a wide variety of techniques in oil painting, cold and hot wax painting, mixed media applications, finishing paintings, sealing photos, polishing fine wooden furniture and artifacts, scrapbooking, and more. It imparts luminosity and clarity to paint films and finishes.

I liked the ease of applying Dorland wax, the softness and the fact there is no distortion of the delicacy over watercolours

Dorland wax medium

I bought this product to protect a watercolour I was using as a demo with school children. I have found it an excellent product to protect watercolours.

I am using it as a finish for watercolor paper that has been eco-dyed, inked and colored with Inktense inks/pencils. It deepens the color of the eco-printed items but dulls the white pen. So mixed but satisfactory results.

Dorland’s Wax Medium is the best!

I use Dorland’s Wax Medium on my watercolor paintings to protect & preserve them after I adhere it to a canvas or cradle board. It illuminates having to put them under glass.
