Sketching People with Peri-Laine

Many sketchers avoid drawing people because they think it’s too challenging. But, like anything else, the more you practice, the better you get. Peri will share some of the sketches she’s done in sketchbooks and tips on using ink and watercolour for quick practice on the spot.
Peri-Laine recommends having a warm and cool of each primary colour, plus burnt sienna or burnt umber (dark brown). Below is a list of colours and paint brands found in her travel watercolour palette.

About Your Host
Peri-Laine is an art specialist with a degree in fine arts from UC Berkeley, a teaching certificate from the University of British Columbia, and a post-baccalaureate diploma in fine arts education from Simon Fraser University. Peri-Laine is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Burnaby Artists Guild.
After teaching for thirty-five years in the public school system, Peri-Laine now sketches and paints ‘plein air,’ works at home in her studio, and teaches art classes to adults in various mediums in her community.
