‘Harana’ at CityScape Community Art Space
May 27 – July 2, 2016 | Opening Reception on Thursday, May 26, 7-9pm
“Harana” is the romantic Filipino courtship tradition of the serenade. The suitor, usually accompanied by his close friends, goes to the house of the woman he is courting and plays music and sings love songs to her. In celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver and the 118th Anniversary of Philippine Independence, join us in a visual serenade of the rich arts, culture, and heritage of the archipelago in all its diversity.
Harana features the work of Manuel Baldemor and recognized Filipino-Canadian artists Ed Araquel, Danvic Briones, Tessie Dichupa, Jo Galang, Lenore RS Lim, Chito Maravilla, Donna Osea Menor, Bert Monterona, and JA Tan.
