Anonymous Art Show

September 24, 2011

Artists and art admirers alike will love the Anonymous Art Show. Proudly hosted by the North Vancouver Community Arts Council, the 2011 show marks this successful group exhibition and fundraising event’s 7th year.

Both established and emerging artists are included in the show and all work submitted must be two-dimensional, unframed and 8″w x 8″h x 1½”d in size. Works are are sold anonymously with artists asked to sign only the back of their painting so the purchaser buys the piece without knowing the identity of its maker. Each piece is priced at $100 and paintings are sold right off the wall from the opening reception to the end of the show.

The artist receives 50% of the sale of their work and the balance remains with the North Vancouver Community Arts Council. Funds raised help the Arts Council fund valuable programmes including free community events, affordable art classes and youth programmes.

There are over 600 different works of art to choose from, created in a multitude of different mediums and styles by approximately 280 artists, both well known and emerging. Visitors enjoy browsing the exhibition, trying to recognize an artist’s style, or simply admiring the work for arts sake.

Held at CityScape Community Art Space (335 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver), the Sale and Opening Reception is November 24 from 7:00-9:30 pm with the exhibition running from November 25 through December 17, 2011. Complimentary coffee and hot chocolate (sponsored by our neighborhood Starbucks) is served to those in line waiting to enter the event and, once inside, patrons may enjoy beverages and hors d’oeuvres (sponsored by Le Bistro Chez Michel). Purchasers qualify for door prizes and all participating artists are entered to win a gift basket from Opus Art Supplies.
