Opus Special Event: Hockey legend Richard Brodeur paints at Opus for the North Shore Art Crawl
March 4, 2017
Join former NHL goalie, Richard Brodeur, as he paints live at Opus North Vancouver this Saturday, March 4th from 10AM-4PM. Don't miss your chance to meet this Canucks alumni as he trades his hockey stick and pads for a paint brush and easel!
"I have had two passions in my life - one was playing hockey and the other one was my art. And I’m a lucky guy because I have been able to do both."
Richard Brodeur is widely recognized as the goalie who helped bring the Canucks to their first Stanley Cup final performance in 1982, earning him the moniker King Richard. However, Richard now spends his days as an artist, painting in oils, acrylics, and watercolours to depict abstract images and ones that truly embody the Canadian spirit. "My Childhood Hockey Memories" is one of his more popular series, where he shows youngsters playing hockey on frozen ponds amidst a snow covered backdrop. His other works depict fishing villages in Haida Gwaii, lakes and orchards of the Okanagan, and the ports and coves of Nova Scotia.
We're so pleased to host Richard's pop-up-studio for the 2017 North Shore Art Crawl. We invite you to visit Opus Art Supplies in North Vancouver on Saturday, March 4 from 10AM–4PM for this event. Richard will be painting live on-site, giving his fellow artists and admires a peek into his process and a chance to purchase his artwork.
