Biography
Pysanky expert and local author Joan Brander has over 50 years experience in creating pysanky and over 25 years conducting workshops in this unique art form. As a child in Saskatchewan she learned the age-old tradition that was passed down through the generations from her grandmother whom she called “Baba”. Responding to the growing interest in this popular activity, in 1991 Joan began giving workshops in schools, community centres and special interest events.
An ancient legend says that as long as pysanky are being made, evil shall not prevail over good in the world. Preserving one of the great traditions of all time, you can also save the world . . . . one pysanka at a time . . . .
