In the morning session of this demonstration Alfonso will familiarize beginners and intermediate artists with the mental and visual process of using a sketch and what it can do for a good piece of artwork and how it can help you create your colour palette.

Alfonso will also cover the use of the sketch as a tool in composition and establishing light values.

In the afternoon session of this demonstration, Alfonso will discuss exploration in watercolour and the possible results that can be developed from your beginning sketch into a final work.

To summarize, Alfonso will be teaching and talking about the process of thinking with the use of a sketch to help develop a final work in any media.

Please visit Opus Coquitlam or contact them at 604‑545‑0410 to register.

Alfonso’s background in art began with pursuing architecture as a career path, where sketching and watercolor ‘‘en plein air ‘’ became a weekend break from his five year long studies. His artistic inclination has continued to develop since his early years in Mexico, through his professional life in Canada as an Architect and Urban Designer by trade and now, as an international artists organizing exhibition and workshops abroad in Italy & Spain art has become a complementary part of Alfonso’s life.

“Art is not a hobby, rather for me it is a life commitment to help show others how to see magnificence in the ordinary and share with them the discoveries of our lives. Drawing, sketching and painting are the tools I use to communicate and explore ideas in my everyday professional life. Furthermore, they are the ways by which I have learned to see the surrounding world.”
