Sculptural Felting with Karina Kalvaitis

Location:
Victoria
Sun, June 17, 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
Sun, June 17, 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

Wool can be used much like other modeling materials to create sculptures that are simple and complex.

In this demo, Karina will focus on how to use needle felting to create solid shapes as well as how to create hollow shapes with wet felting. She will also look at how to mix your own colours in wool and incorporate other fibres for interesting textural effects. Attendees will leave with a familiarity for tools and techniques needed to incorporate this wonderfully tactile material into their sculpture toolbox.

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus Victoria or contact them at 250‑386‑8133 or toll free 1‑800‑524‑6555 to register.

Karina is a visual artist working in two and three-dimensional media. She creates a sort of parallel world full of personable, loveable, odd and awkward creatures and familiar yet strange habitats. Karina majored in sculpture at the Alberta College of Art and Design, and later studied theatre prop building at the Banff Centre in Alberta. She has lived in Victoria since 1996 and works as an artist full-time (with short stints in the world of theatre props and sets).
