Plein Air - Informing Your Work through Direct Observation with Maria Josenhans

Sat, May 27, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Sat, May 27, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Join Maria as she demystifies the experience of painting en plein air!

Maria will share her personal choices of paints, easels, and a whole host of materials, basically everything you need to be ready to paint outdoors!

Her presentation will focus on her process of choosing a subject, simplifying it, and how her preliminary sketches and studies are the backbone of a successful painting.

Maria will also demonstrate the importance of value as it relates to colour and how direct observation of the natural world is the greatest asset when it comes to constructing a strong and engaging painting, be it representational or abstract.
