Sat, September 8, 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

Explore various ways composition, perspective, contrast and colour influence a painting’s dynamism, and how to take emotional and technical risks in your work.

Corey will demonstrate the importance of creating areas of intensity and areas of visual respite on the picture plane. She will discuss brush strokes and how we use our bodies while painting in oils, as well as light sources, perspective and atmosphere in the painting and in the studio.

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus Downtown Vancouver or contact them at 604‑678‑5889 to register.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Corey Hardeman has drawn since she could first hold a pencil. Her formal education in biology and, later, in architectural drafting have both influenced her art making, which combines elements of traditional illustration and technical drawing with a love of tonal painting, an abiding interest in biomechanics and an eye for tension and movement. She considers her paintings to be documents rendered with oil paint, expressing her love of her surroundings as part of an ongoing conversation with the past, and is preoccupied with the creation of a sense of refuge from time.
