Location:
Granville Island
Sun, January 22, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

January 9, 2017 – Please note: This demonstration is full and no further registration will be taken. Thank you for your interest!

Create beautiful sketchbooks, stories books, and collections using one of four basic stitch patterns in traditional Japanese four-hole stab method of bookbinding.

The traditional Japanese four-hole stab bookbinding technique has a simple, contemporary appeal and it’s excellent for beginners. There’s no gluing or folding involved, so you can get a beautiful hand-crafted result with very little effort.

In this demonstration you will be learning the fundamentals of bookbinding, and using various bookbinding tools such as a Lineco bookbinding awl, Lineco bookbinding needles, Lineco bone folder, and techniques including stitching, folding, and scoring.

Cost: $15, supplies provided by Opus Granville Island

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus Granville Island or contact them at 604‑736‑7028 to register.

Suzan Lee has been a bookbinding instructor for over 10 years. Trained in Centre for Book Arts in New York, her love of blank books led her to an accidental discovery of bookbinding. She is a co-founder of a local chapter of Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild (CBBAG). She's thrilled that bookbinding has a growing presence locally, and that she can be a part of this thriving community.
