Going Beyond: Mixed Media Collage with Tony Bounsall

This presentation looks at experimentation, exploration and creative play using photographic source material and found papers as its base and departure point.

Discover how the integration of unique materials with new approaches to photo based mixed media can push your images "beyond" ordinary to extraordinary. Use of specific materials and techniques such as image transfer, distressing and decollage, acrylic transfer skins will be covered in this lively, informative presentation.

Tony has been working professionally for thirty years as a commercial photographer and Graphic Designer and is a photo arts graduate (BAPA) from Ryerson Polytechnical University. He currently teaches Photo-Based Mixed Media, Collage and Printmaking at VISA (The Vancouver Island School Of Art in Victoria). Tony has also taught workshops in alternative based photography, collage, mixed media and encaustics at The Coast Collective, The Old School House in Qualicum Beach, MISSA ( Metchosin International Summer School of The Arts),UVIC-Camosun College Continuing Studies in Victoria BC as well as Series Summer School of Art in Red Deer Alberta and Leading Edge Workshops in Calgary Alberta.

Over the last 13 years, Tony has worked in several different mediums, including collage, i-Phoneography, digital artwork, alternative based photography, mixed media, printmaking and encaustics. His work draws inspiration from his travels, the environment, medical imagery and vintage photographic imagery. He exhibits and sells his own fine art prints and mixed media work throughout No rth America. He is one of the founding members of “The Imagists”, a Victoria BC based artists group. He is and his wife Julie Graham and their dog Millie are long time residents of Victoria BC
