Leah Schell is a Vancouver B.C. based self taught artist who paints in watercolour and acrylic ink. Leah's work is influenced by the European and Scandinavian illustrators of the Golden Age of Illustration of the 19th and early 20th century: Rackham, Dulac, Bauer, Poortvliet, and Potter, to name a few. This period of illustration combined with world folklore and customs, the flora and fauna of the West Coast of BC, and a liberal infusion of fantasy, inform much of Leah's subject matter, drawing from these rich sources while endeavoring to expand the themes, infusing them with her own voice, style, and interpretations.
