Sun, August 27, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

August 22, 2017 – Please note: The 1PM demonstration has been cancelled. There is still space in the 11AM demonstration.

What is abstract art? Where do you start? How do you start? How do you get people to connect to what they’re seeing? How to open up your mind to abstract painting and moving away from figurative or landscape painting? Discover how!

Attendees will learn about different mediums and materials that are common with abstract artists and trying some of the techniques. Claire will also talk about where she is as an artist and how she has gotten to this point in her artistic career.

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus Coquitlam or contact them at 604‑545‑0410 to register.

Claire Sarfeld is an artist living and working in Mission, British Columbia. She grew up in small town southern Ontario, and moved out to B.C. after completing her degree in Fine Arts; Drawing and Painting from OCAD University in Toronto. Sarfeld is an abstract painter with classical training who has come into her own personal style after graduating. She is looking to create movement while maintaining the delicate balance between order and chaos. Sarfeld’s paintings are based around a certain element of chance or performativity. She looks to add and take away, to create depth, as well as moments of rest in her work.
