Welcome to our new design!
We're excited to be moving to the new design of our website today. A number of factors went in to the decision to do this, but primary among them was making information on our website more readable. As a bonus: the current changes come with some great new features!
Post your own Art News!
If you look to the right, you'll see a green box that says "Log in to post Art News." To log in, you must first start a new Art News Community Profile with us. You can learn more by reading Creating an Art News Community Profile, You can now post Art News, or you can just Start the Process now (it's very simple - we need an email address that you can validate, a username and a password).
Keep track of your posts
Your Art News Community Profile allows you to keep track of the posts you've made, and the discussions you've take part in, giving you a one-stop page to find out whether anything new has been added since the last time you were here.
Navigating the new design
You may notice that the new layout only applies to certain parts of our site. If you go to the Online Store or the Workshops & Classes section, you will see our original layout. We plan to bring those sections inline in the coming days
Main Navigation
The top navigation bar is the black bar that will span the top of the Opus website. It has a few options:
Online Store: This is a direct link to our online store where you can shop for framing and art supplies.
How-to's, Demos & Workshops: This link takes you to what we've been calling the "How-to" section. At the top of this section you'll see a blue heading with more individual links (on the right) which can take you to: How-to Handouts, In-Store Demos, Product-QA articles, Videos, and a link to our Workshops & Classes section.
Art & Community News: This will take you to our "Community" section. The front page of that section will give you an overview of the newest articles, Opinion pieces and Art News, and the individual links in the green header let you get to more specific content like: Community Articles, Opinion pieces by Chris Tyrell, Art News, and the Archives.
About Us: You can read about the Opus story here, as well as find out more about Careers at Opus, our Services, and our Community Donations program.
Locations & Ordering Information: Got questions about orders? Want to know where our stores are located, their hours, or how to get in touch? This section has the information you need.
Bottom Navigation
At the bottom of every page in the new design is flat list of links to the various pages and sections you can find on opusframing.com. Some information is easier to get from this area, such as:
Help / F.A.Q The help/faq section contains our shipping information, privacy policy and terms of use, as well as any help content we've written to answer your questions, such as how to apply for a donation, or how to upgrade your browser.
Section Navigation
In many of the site sections you can find links to useful information in the section heading, to the right (as you can see in the picture above).
Featured Content
On the front page of www.opuframing.com, it's hard not to notice the large promotional viewer. Keep an eye on this for key promotions and new featured content. Near the bottom and slightly to the left of the viewer should be some controls - you'll see our toll-free (in Canada) number. The arrows allow you to move through the various pieces of featured content.
As an alternative, you may notice a tan block in the right-hand column on many pages that says: "What's New?" This block is simply a list of some of the newer content we've posted. A handy way to get back to recent content after browsing a help page or an article in the archives
Social Media
Also on the right of pages in the Community section and the front page are some social media options. Here you can follow us on Twitter, Like us on Facebook, or subscribe to our email and feeds.
Where can I find...
The Online Store: You can still shop for art supplies online with us by clicking "Online Store" from the top navigation bar. Alternately, on some pages of the new design, you may see a heading that says: "Log in to Shop Online." There will be a link below it that will take you to the online store login page where you can login directly, or you can create a new store profile if you've never shopped with us before.
Videos, How-to Handouts, Demos: You can find all that information in our How-to section, which you can get to from the main black navigation bar under the heading "How-to's, Demos & Workshops".
Workshops & Classes section: Our workshops and classes section actually runs on different software than the redesigned portion of the site. A link to the Workshops & Classes section can be found in the "How-to's, Demos & Workshops" section, near the top right of the screen (when you get there). You can go directly to the Workshops & Classes section with this link: https://store.opusframing.com/classes
Art News, Opinion, and Community News: You can find all this information in the "Art & Community News" section, which you can get to from the link in the black navigation bar near the top of the site. When you get there, look for the individual section links near the top right of the section, or you can scroll down the page for brief samples of what's new.
We hope you like what we've done!
A new design may come with a few bumps along the way, and we've tried our best to write some helpful documents to make it easier. Check out our Help/F.A.Q for possible answers to questions you might have. A link to our Help section can always be found at the bottom of the site.
And if you can't find the information you need, you can always write to us at info@opusframing.com.
