Farewell to Mark!

After 15 years at Opus Granville Island, Mark Gilliland is moving to Ontario to pursue his role as producer and performer in various theatrical troupes. Throughout Mark's schooling in Fine Arts and Animation, the realization dawned on him that he desired not only to be an artist, but also the medium to be manipulated, transferring his funny focus and creative love into sketch comedy. Since then he’s been steadily producing and performing with various troupes such as Shaggy Dog, The End Of Honest Jack and most recently The Dead Understudies. Visit them at www.myspace.com/deadunderstudies. Mark will miss much of Vancouver, but looks forward to increasing his sketch comedy amidst the presence of his future peers.

Wow! An end to an era here. Mark was the first person I ever encountered in Opus, he helped me pick out a few pieces of conte chalk as my first ever purchase at Opus and went out of his way to find a box with foam in it to keep them all in one piece for me too. Every time I have ever stepped int Opus GI he has always been a personable and upbeat presence. All the best to Mark as he takes the next step on his road to success. Granville Island will never be the same again!
